In May of 1986, a professional engineer named Paul Sims contemplated the radical idea of applying professional management skills to construction projects; and in doing so he founded Sims Moelich Associates, a firm dedicated to that idea. The firm quickly became one of the pioneers in our industry, developing a reputation for excellence, innovation and the application of professional management discipline combined with modern technology to project delivery.

In 2009, seeing an opportunity to take a great company to the next level, Mo Ettehadieh, an already well-established and respected senior executive in the project and construction management industry, took ownership of Sims Moelich Associates along with a core group of professional colleagues forming SMA | METTKO and METTKO Construction Inc.  Not looking back, Mo and his senior leadership team committed to providing and improving the core services that the firm has become known and respected for. Implementing significant changes to the firm’s operational structure, an employee ownership plan available to all staff was put in place along with a client focused corporate strategy that allowed the firm to evolve and diversify in response to the issues and concerns expressed by our clients.  To date, some of the creative solutions the firm has developed are proving to be as new and innovative as professional construction management services were when Paul Sims founded the company.

In 2011, on its twenty-fifth anniversary, the firm consolidated its management and construction operations under the METTKO name, solidifying not only the firm’s corporate identity, but also its commitment to providing comprehensive concept to commissioning project services, innovative project delivery solutions capitalize on opportunity while minimizing risk, and client centric service that exceeds expectation.

So after twenty-five years and many successful projects delivered, some of the faces at METTKO have changed however the firm’s core philosophy remains the same – to attract and develop the best and brightest people and continue doing what we do best – guiding and assisting our valued clients in the realization of their project visions, the achievement of their business objectives, and the fulfilment of their expectations.
